Hi, I'm new here and to mice
Hi, I'm new here and kind of new to mice, I use to have a mouse when I was five but that was long ago, Then I use to own Seven rats. Now being rodantless for several years I asked my husband for a mouse for my birthday. I got a cute little silver male mouse named Lecter, and he is very sweet, I want to get a bigger cage for him but don't know if the Critter trail 2-level habitat is good or would a 10 gallon tank be better?

Welcome!
This thread on mouse housing may help you decide. http://www.petmousefanciers.com/t26-proper-housing
I've never used a barred cags for mice. Tanks have worked out great for us. I personally would look for something a little bit bigger than a 10 gallon for a boy. Though my boy mouse experience is limited to only one so far, so take that for whatever it's worth. But my boy loved and made use of all the space his 29 gallon tank provided. And you can pack in a lot more things to play on/in.
But yes, a 10 gallon tank would be considered just fine and is the minimum size recommended.

Welcome! What a great birthday present. Any pictures to share?
I would go with a 10 gallon (or larger) tank, too. Easier to clean him, easier to see him, and easier to spoil him with toys. Lucky Lecter! :lucky:
