Heating options
Heating options
Hi friends! I'm new here and trying to get the right information before adopting some females from a local shelter.
Does anyone have experience using a heating mat? I live in a cold climate, and sometimes our house can get chilly if we are gone for a longer period of time and can't build a fire. I'm wondering if they will be fine provided that they burrow deeply (I have a 30 gallon aquarium to use), or if I should use a heating map or even a heat lamp set on a timer. Any thoughts?

Re: Heating options
I’ve never had to use one with mice myself but a good reptile heat mat hooked up to a good thermostat to keep it from getting too hot would work just fine to provide a warmer area. Get a size that fits on about 1/3 of the tank, so they have plenty of space to move to cooler areas if they want to. Also providing warm nesting material would be beneficial. Unscented toilet tissue, paper towels, shredded paper, fleece strips, etc are all great.
