Demand for Mice Empty Demand for Mice

Hi Guys!

I would just like to run some thoughts through with you. My babies will be ready to go to new homes in just two weeks time and so I have been keeping myself busy with trying to find suitable homes for them. What shocked me is the high demand for mice in Ireland. There are several people who committed to driving 3-4 hours to collect a baby or three, everyone has been more than willing to take advice on board and each person has sent me pictures of the set-ups they have.

Every single one of my babies has a home lined up. There are only 3 bucks, and 7 does, one girl who I will be keeping. I still get called asking if I have any babies left and people are asking me to put them down on a waiting list in case any of the arranged homes fall through.

I know from experience that getting a hold of fancy mice is extremely difficult in Ireland, you have better luck getting mice shipped from England as it is that uncommon to find any breeders around here, especially if you're looking for ones that are not feeders.

This made me wonder if it might be a good idea to work towards setting up a small-scale mousery in Ireland, knowing that there is demand for mice that come from a reputable source. This is something that I would definitely be interested in, as I have a stable income, space and exotic vet on call. Honestly, this might never happen, not in the near future anyways but it would be interesting to hear your thoughts on the matter. The main goal would be to breed for quality and health - since this is very lacking in this country.

Brainstorming more than anything else, but it would be great to hear your opinions. Very Happy

Awesome that you were able to find homes for all!

If you haven’t seen it already, check out the Breeding Packet. Tons of info there. Smile
