I've heard that too! I just read that for a small rabbit, that comes out to around 4'. But personally, if I ever had a rabbit, I would have them be free range.

I have a 40g tank that I split for my two robos. I cut a piece of acrylic I got from Home Depot and wedged it down the middle of the tank. I've also got shelves in there for them to run around on. It was easy to do and the hams seem perfectly happy with the set up.

Oh, I remember that, Scaredy! Is each half about the size of a 10 gallon tank?

If it's a 40 gallon breeder (36x18x16 inches), then each half would be about 18x18 (depending on the thickness of the divider). So around 324 square inches. A 10 g is 200 square inches (20x10).

Oh, wow! That'd be perfect I could even try going smaller to try and meet that 30 gallon limit. It needs to be 400 square inches, so I'll have to do some calculations...
Edited to add: Okay, wait, I think I did it! If I take the standard length of a 20 gallon tank (30"), make the width 15", that's 450 square inches. Divided in half, each side would get 225 square inches of floor space, which is actually five square inches more than the 10 gallon tanks I have! Then if I give it the standard height of 13", 5850 cubic inches, which converts to 25.324 gallons! YAY! This solves everything! I'll just make a completely DIY tank. I think the Fun Mouse actually had instructions for it somewhere. I can get glass from Ace Hardware, and I've still got aquarium sealant from when I made a half land-half water tank for frogs. Do you guys think this could work?

I think it could. Wouldn't be any different than having two tanks set side-by-side really.

Re: Incredible Opportunity- Should I Take It?
Alright, well I checked the cage calculator, and we're in business! 15"x15" for each mouse is good for 3.4 mice. I may actually bring the whole tank down to 30"x13" because that makes each side just enough for three mice and would help with the space issues of dorm living. Or maybe I'll just go for the middle since it's not that much bigger. I'm excited! Man I reeeeaaaaaaally hope I can get into Cornell. >.<
