Sweet little Violet has a sneeze :(
Violet has been settling in really well, and is a very very sweet mouse
I love her to bits already. She loves to sit in my hand, she likes it when I make a (very very loose) fist around her, as I think she feels safe in a little "hand cave". She is very calm in my hands, and when she goes exploring, she runs back into my hand if anything spooks her. I am her Mamma.
The only trouble is, I have noticed she has a little sneeze
when I get her out, she sneezes probably once every 5 minutes. This is her only symptom. Eyes, nose and ears look fine. Her fur is sleek and shiny and she looks generally fit as a fiddle, except for this occasional sneeze. I am pretty sure it's not a substrate issue, as I use a paper-based litter that is non-dusty, and therefore hypo-allergenic. She gets shredded loo roll for her bedding.
How seriously should I take this? Do you think it's worth giving her a week or two to settle in, and keep an eye on it? Or should she be taken to the vet? Also - regarding quarantine, does she have to be 100% symptom-free for three weeks before I can introduce her to Honey? Honey doesn't seem herself lately, she has become more skittish since being a lone mouse, and I was hoping to introduce them asap as I am worried about depression
Thanks guys!

Seems like box shock to me. If it doesn't go away in two weeks, then it could be a URI and you should make a vet appointment. But seeing as she's new, box shock is pretty likely.

Ah box shock, forgot that could be a possibility. Okay, I'll keep an eye on it. If it doesn't get better or gets worse, I'll take her to the vet. Cheers!

I've never heard of box shock. What is it?

@Soren
Box shock is caused by stress and presents with similar symptoms as an URI, but it'll go away on it's own in a few days to a week or so. It's usually mentioned with new mice but I think it can happen after any big stressful change (??). If it doesn't go away on it's own or if symptoms become worse, then it likely is an URI and a visit to the vet will be needed.
**more experienced members please correct me if I'm wrong. I've never personally dealt with box shock or a URI with my mice.**

Re: Sweet little Violet has a sneeze :(
Thanks Soren.
Have not noticed any sneezing at all today, yesterday, or the day before that, so am hoping it was just a bit of box shock. Will continue to keep an eye out for sneezes though.
