does this interest anyone?
I think we should start a new sticky thread with useful miscellaneous mouse information. Just a collection of things we've learned along the way and bits of information that new folks might want to know. I think it would be a fun thread to contribute to... The only problem with miscellaneous threads is that the is no way to search them but it's still good to get the information out there, I think.
Does this interest anyone? Also, do you feel like you would have something to contribute? It won't be a substitute for answering questions and replying to posts... But we don't always have the time to explain the details or remember that new people have questions about things we take for granted.

Like a FAQ thread? That sounds good.

Sounds good to me. A quicker way to get info than reading all the stickies, too.

I've thought about making a sort of FAQ page to link to all the stickies that are all over the place now. I think a miscellaneous topic link with details/links of all the posts that are included would be an awesome addition!

Yes. Pretty much like a FAQ page but i was thinking that it could also include anecdotal stories like personal experiences with OCD and tips, or advanced strategies for making female colonies work, or tank decorating (using unusual items, homemade things, safe items designed for other species).
I'm not sure how to organize this... I guess we could have a miscellaneous section and then make personal experience topics that we can work on together to pass on what we've learned.

Re: does this interest anyone?
Great idea! Here's a contribution:
If your house gets super dry in winter like mine (or any time) and you notice your mice scratching a bunch, they might have dry skin. Obviously they can't borrow your chapstick/lotion but there is a quick fix: olive oil. If they are picky like Flynn and won't eat food drizzled in it or lick it off your fingers (previous mice thought it was like magic candy syrup or something) you can cheat by dabbing some on their back/butt. As they groom they'll spread it all around and it will get on their skin and keep the moisture in. It's like edible lotion for critters! Just apply once and see if it does the trick, if one application doesn't do it, try a second time but if dry skin is the problem that's about all it should take. After that do another application (either on food or on mouse) any time you notice excessive scratching.
