I hope everyone is having a good day -!
I currently own one female mouse and, yes, I know females should be kept in pairs or trios. However she's a special case and my ownership of her is a miracle really, as female mice are unavailable in my area, or any surrounding area for that matter. (I would appreciate if I didn't get any negative remarks regarding that, as I have from pretty much any mouse owner).

She currently lives in a ten gallon tank, however this cage is arriving tomorrow, which I am rather excited about. It has almost the same foot print as the ten gallon, just a little deeper and shorter, but it is obviously much taller. She's really into climbing, and not so much into digging, so I'm hoping this cage will fit her interests better. Not to mention she's in love with hammocks, so the bars will make the hammocks much easier to put up for her.

She is rather shy-she'll climb into my hand and accept being pet and loved on, but she tends to be much more skittish if I am. She loves getting treats-Her favorite is timothy hay and apple treats, but she gets spazzy and excited for any of them really. She also tends to 'popcorn' a lot-kind of similar to a guinea pig when they're happy? She only does it if I'm giving her food, so I assume its merely her literally jumping in excitement. She is a pew, and pretty runty compared to most other mice I've seen, but if anything that makes her cuter.

Other than that I don't know what to add? So I guess thank you for your time, and I hope yall have a great day!

Welcome to the forum!! It's unfortunate that you haven't been able to find her any friends. I'm sure you can appreciate that any "negative" comments are simply because others want to help you help your mouse have the best life possible. However, we always try to remain respectful while we give advice, so if you ever feel disrespected feel free to PM a mod. Smile

Does she have a name? We'd love to see pictures! I hope she enjoys her new cage.

Welcome!

With mice "popcorning" is usually called sparking. I think to prevent confusion between it and a baby stage mice go through that is often referred to as the popcorn stage. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong on the reason. But yes, sparking is a sign of happiness. Very Happy

Welcome Sign to you and your little lady! And, yes, we do want pictures (as you can tell by the number of photos posted here by proud mouse parents)! What's her name? Have long have you had her?

Welcome to the forum! ^.^
I had one mouse (female) when I started (not too long ago) too. Now I have two, but it was a really hard thing for me to get my second.

Welcome to you and your little mousie! What's her name? I have a mouse living by herself too, but it's because she's getting older and her nest mates passed away. It's a bit too late to get her friends because she just developed two tumors about a week ago. Sad I'm going to miss her as I can't take her to a vet to get them removed.

Welcome to the group!   hello3

The biggest risk for female mice living alone is depression/loneliness.  But as long as she has a lot of toys and gets a lot of attention, a female mouse can still live a happy life.

How did you get her?  I'm curious now since you said it was a miracle Smile
