How are bananas?

Post by MooMouse on Mon 16 Jan 2017, 9:17 am

Hello, I was wondering how often you can feed fresh/dried bananas to your mice. The protein content is pretty low, along with the fat and fiber. The only thing that concerns me is sugar. It's not added sugar, so I'd assume that it is not that big of a deal. But if you have any suggestions, please let me know Very Happy Thanks!

I don't think a bit of fresh or dried banana would hurt them, even daily. As long as it's not a large part of their diet that has them filling up on it instead of their base mix.

I give Colin about 1 or 2 dried banana bits daily. They're not big bits - 1cm if that. Haven't noticed any ill effects - he's just as happy and healthy as ever!

I was planning on drying banana in the oven and not adding anything else to them (including not soaking them in acid). Based on the information here, it seems like it's okay to feed a couple of times per week, in smaller amounts. Thanks for the help everyone!

Mice are not too picky about what they eat. So I don't think feeding them with bananas is any big deal. But make sure to balance their diet.
