Where To Keep My Mice
I am planning to travel overseas for two weeks and I don't have anyone to leave with my two mice. I can't travel with them abroad and my mom doesn't like these small pets. She is a bit elderly and therefore I understand her reservations. So guys what do you suggest I should do with the two buddies for the two weeks?

Re: Where To Keep My Mice
Is there a small pet "hotel" near you anywhere? When we're desperate there is a "Bunny Hotel" near us who also takes small furries like hamsters and mice.
Or do you have a friend or another family member who'd be able to come and visit every other day or so and who could top up their food dish and change their water and just generally check up on them? (I tend to give Colin enough food for a couple of days so I don't have to top it up so often and he gets more choice all the time).
I guess the main problem for anyone would be cleaning them out. Your mice will be fine without being handled as much for two weeks - they have each other for company so they won't get lonely.
As a thought, could your mum be convinced just to top up the food dish and change the water and maybe clean the wheel if it gets mucky? Its not ideal but they would probably be okay if you cleaned them just before you left and when you got home.

I can't find a hotel that takes mice and the only person that I could count on was my ex-fiance who left tow a month ago. I know they can take care of themselves but I don't know who will feed and water them when I'm away. So stressed!

If you don't know anyone who could check in on them for you and you can't take them with you, your only option is to try to find a pet sitting service or maybe there's a vet in your area that boards animals. I hope you can find something. Good luck.

When I left town for ten days, I boarded my mice at a vet hospital I volunteered at. Most pet hospitals that see exotic animals will gladly board them for you. If they're hesitant, just stress that you have no other options.

Re: Where To Keep My Mice
When I have needed to board my mice, I have done it at their vet office. But it was really expensive. Most recently though, I have just has my awesome neighbor come check on them once a day to feed/water them.

Re: Where To Keep My Mice
So, yesterday I took your advice and went out to look for a vet office. Unfortunately in my neighborhood there is no vet who offers boarding services so I had to travel several kilometers out of town. Luckily, I found an office where I can leave my two mice for the period that I will be away. They said they will charge me a hundred bucks per day and I had to take it. I now feel relieved knowing that my pets will be in good hands. Thank y'all for your advice.

Can you imagine. I think they sensed my desperation and decided to make a kill. But I have no choice but to pay them.
