I was helping someone out on Hamster Hideout and they asked a good question that I'm not sure of, here it is:
And here's the topic where it was discussed:SunHam wrote:Oh, and are mesh ramps (like leading to a platform) safe? Assuming from the information you quoted to me, I think it might not be. At the same time, mesh wheels are safe according to this topic (?) https://www.petmousefanciers.com/t152-why-are-mesh-wheels-safe, but that topic also says that hamsters and mice don't stay on wheels long enough to get bumblefoot. I would think that mice wouldn't stay that long on a mesh ramp, at least not as long as they would on a wheel.
I think mesh ramps would be fine but I would probably cover them in fleece. I think the problem comes when all or most of the flooring is mesh and they have little choice but to stand/walk on it all the time.

I imagine mice spend less time on a ramp then on a wheel, and the little squares would offer a good grip so no mice slide/fall when they climb down it. I agree that fleece would be a good cover if you were worried, though.
