new females, introducing two mice to one?
Hello all! I finally got the other female I was waiting on, although one female quickly became two! The lady brought my two so that I could pick between them, but also offered both. I couldn't help but take both of them as they're already a bonded little pair from the breeder, and trios work best anyways, so now I can have a full little group after quarantine is up.
I decided on the names Mogwai (Mog-why) and Mowgli (Mo-glee), and they're the cutest little things.
They have been on full explore everything mode since I have taken them home and I definitely understand what everyone means when they talk about each mouse having a completely separate personality. Mogwai is wheel and food focused, and Mowgli is a little more shy yet curious and seems to be a determined little nest builder.
Anyways I'm going to do a 4 week quarantine, but I was wondering if during that time period I could take toys and such from Bird (my female mouse who they will meet) and put them in the duos cage? Obviously this would not go vice versa but just wondering if it'll help when they eventually meet so that the pair already knows her scent.
Also any tips for introducing a duo to a single? I've heard that a dab of vanilla on their backside can help, anyone ever tried it?
I'll post pictures of the cuties when I'm on my desktop soon

How exciting!!! Can't wait to see them! I'm so happy to hear you took the two of them.

Thank you! I feel like this is a long time coming and I'm so happy to finally be working towards Bird not being alone anymore.
This is Mogwai, she's a darker sorta brown/black (the flash glare makes it look likes she's balding lol but it's just her coat sheen)

And Mowgli is more of a lighter brown

Both of their ears are so large and cute I thought about naming one of them Despereaux! The local pet shop I got them from doesn't keep live mice in their store, only frozen for feeding other pets. These two were supposed to be feeder mice as well so I can only assume their conditions were not super ideal, but they were not from a giant mill which is nice.
They are both highly active girls who took to their wheels right away (fingers crossed they can teach Bird a thing or two
), so I have no doubts about their obvious health. And all three of my girls look the same in regards to their sex so we're in the clear for any accidental babies yay!
