Carefresh and shredded paper?

Post by Yassssssss on Sun Jul 02, 2017 7:42 am

Sorry for posting quite a bit, this is just the most informative site I've found. Anyways, I've been researching bedding for mice, and have been looking into carefresh ultra. It seems to be a good bedding, but is quite expensive. I was wondering if it would be possible to mix it with shredded paper so I won't have to buy it as often. If I did do this, what ratio would you suggest, and is printed on paper okay? I've read that some ink can be harmful.

Carefresh mixed with paper is totally fine. It'll fluff it a bit and give the mice something extra to do if they use the paper as nesting material. The ratio is totally up to you. I'd do a couple sheets, layer Carefresh over it, and then mix is together. Smile

Plain printer or construction paper or newspaper is recommended unless you know for certain that the ink on printed papers is non toxic. Phone books are good too, if you have any old ones lying around.
