Pregnant mouse? Care for mom and babies.

Post by Theresa.mc on Thu 06 Jul 2017, 1:25 am

Well this is one way to introduce myself to the fourm. I want to apologize ahead of time for any spelling and grammar mistakes. I am mental an 18 year old but spell like a 7 year old.

Any hoo here is the situation
I work in a pet store and we have a mouse that I am 90% she is pregnant. Not shure on her age but she is still quite young and has been here for around 3 weeks. She us housed with 4 other girls but no others seem to be pregnant. I'm not shure how or if I can attach a photo of her.. she seems quite wide but there is no enlargement of the nipples. I am hopeing to take her home where she can safely have the litter. What is the set up like for a mom and pups, and is there any special care?

There is a ton of info, including housing advice for pregnant does, here: https://www.petmousefanciers.com/t43-breeding-packet.

I would also triple check that all of the other mice in the cage are for sure female and that there's no way wild mice could be getting to them. https://www.petmousefanciers.com/t45-sexing-mice - I know the pics are down on this thread but hopefully they'll be fixed soon.

How to post pictures: https://www.petmousefanciers.com/t956-how-to-post-pictures-with-servimg.

A mouse is only pregnant for 19-21 days, so if she's pregnant I would definitely double check that everyone is female! I've updated the pictures in the sexing thread, but if you need second opinions feel free to post pictures. Smile

The breeding packet is also updated and has a great example of a mousey nursery!
