Please Help - Rectal Prolapse
Please Help - Rectal Prolapse
One of my mice has developed a rectal prolapse. Online research is saying conflicting things: it could be diet, may need surgery, may just need to wait and see, might be too late, etc. I just need somebody to give it to me straight up, someone who has had this happen or has heard what to do from someone else. I don't want my little mouse baby to suffer. I'd like to know if the vet is the best/only real option, or if there's nothing I can do.
Please guide me to the right option and I'll get right on it. Thank you!

Could you explain what a rectal prolapse is? And how are you sure that she has one?I haven't heard of anything like that... I think that it is best to go to the vet, just make sure that he/she is specialized in rodents. I hope you mousie gets better soon!

It's where the colon comes out the anus. The more my husband and I research it, the more it seems like she'll be okay as long as it doesn't get bigger or dry up. I may have to go to the vet, but I'm going to see what can be done in the meantime.
Here's pictures from my Instagram.

Thank you everyone. Unfortunately, my dear sweet Veronica didn't make it.
But I'm just glad she's no longer suffering.
