Exercise wheels
My mouse is always peeing and pooping in her wheel. I clean it daily as it gets so dirty. Is there any way to deter her from doing that and get her to find a more acceptable place to do her business? Not only is it gross but she also runs through it and I can't imagine that's good for her.

Re: Exercise wheels
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but unfortunately there's not really any way to stop this.
I have found that using a mesh wheel makes the wheel look less unsightly as often the poop goes between the mesh but there's no way to stop them making a mess of it I'm afraid!

Yeah, they just tend to go where they go, especially poos, so the wheel often gets yucky quick and needs washing often. The good news is, at least with all my mice so far, they do tend to go less on the wheel when they're a bit older. I'm guessing just because they don't run as often or as long as younger mice.
