Mr Mouse
I've had my Mr Mouse for two years now so he's an old guy. Hes active and brighteyed and the sweetest mouse I have ever known. <3
He hasn't shown much signs of aging but he has always been a little sneezy. Anything I can do to keep him healthy in his old age? Any chance ill get another year with him?

Re: Mr Mouse
Aw, Mr Mouse! Old mice are the best. We've seen quite a few live well past 2 years old... I think my oldest was 33 months old.
Just to get an idea of his general health, how does he look? Is his fur a little messy? Is his back starting to hunch over? Does he still run on his wheel a lot? Has he lost any weight? Just like people, mice can sometimes be old but otherwise youthful.
For senior mice in general, sometimes we recommend making changes to the tank if they seem to have trouble getting around. For instance, I had a mouse that loved to be in the hammock but I had notices that she stopped going up there. Poor thing *couldn't* get up there anymore. So with a few adjustments and a little ramp, I made it so that she could. So just be aware of things like that.
But if he still looks healthy, is active, and isn't losing any weight... there isn't much you need to do for him other than love on him and spoil him for the rest of his life! After my girls hit 2 years old, I started celebrating the months. We had 25 month old birthdays, and 26 month old birthdays.... you get it! Its fun for the mouse and I enjoyed celebrating the time we got together.
So to answer your question, yeah, maybe not a whole year but it's totally possible to get a lot more time. Good luck!

I would love to share a pic but its not giving me the option to upload any.
Mr Mouse is at least 26 months old. His fur is still clean and soft, and he has no trouble getting around. He has lost a little bit of weight, but he's not thin, he was just chunky before. :-) he's not hunched over at all. I'm not sure if he runs on the wheel or not because he always did it when I was asleep! I caught him on it a couple weeks ago when I happened to come upstairs real late at night.
He runs to the front of the cage in the morning when he sees me. :-) because he knows I take him out to go 'help' the kids get out of bed. He loves it.
I rescued him from a less-than-ideal situation when he was just a baby. Tiny little guy, kinda runty, and the other mice picked on him. Figured he'd be sickly and die young. I wasn't expecting him to grow up so healthy and handsome tbh. I'm really glad he did!

Welcome!
One of my boys will be celebrating his 3rd birthday in a month, and another will be 3 in January. They're the oldest I've had, they're so well-loved! Fingers crossed you two get many more wonderful days together.

My screen doesn't look a thing like that. My only two options are Reply and Send.

Re: Mr Mouse
I have to ask in advance because I've had experience with mice in the past. What do you guys do about URIs? He has gotten sick a couple times in the past, sneezing and lethargic. I made him some echinacea tea, put it in his water bottle. By the second day he was better. But i know as he gets older he may not recover so quickly

Re: Mr Mouse
He's adorable!
Thankfully so far I haven't had to deal with respiratory infections. :::knock on wood::: But a vet trip for antibiotics is usually what's advised.

Re: Mr Mouse
Hmm I thought most mice get a cold at some point...did you get yours from a breeder? I think the mice at the petstore get exposed to a lot and those glass aquariums are terrible for their lungs
