Re: Brand New to Mice: What Can I Expect?
I got my male mouse from PETsMART about a year and a half ago. He was in with other males. All the other males were in their little house and there was a little brown mouse right up at the glass seeming very interested in me. It was like he was saying, excuse me miss could you please get me out of here?
That is why I picked him, because he picked me! He was sweet from the get go and loves attention. As far as smell, when I first brought him home he stank big time but as time went by and he felt more at home, the smell became less and less. To me now, I can't smell him unless I have my face right above his tank, and even then it's not bad. I will say when I first got him I had him in a cage. I didn't like the cage as it was a pain to clean, so I switched him to an aquarium. The aquarium does help to contain the smell, so that was an added benefit of a tank.

Aww, what a sweet story! I've heard quite a few people say that the smell lessens over time, and it makes sense to me that they would stop marking as much when they feel more at home. I've been leaning towards going with a 10 gallon aquarium instead of a cage, but I didn't realise it might help with the smell, so that's a definite added benefit! Thank you so much for your response!
