How Much Should Mice Weigh?

Post by CucumberMouse on Wed Oct 11, 2017 4:04 pm

How much should a mouse weigh? Or, what would be considered a normal weight range for mice, I know that some mice will weigh more/less than others but that can still be considered normal. When I say mice, I mean 'fancy' mice that petstores sell. But if any of you know what the normal weight ranges for other types of mice, like wild mice and such, are that information would be appreciated, too. Smile

My mice have all averaged between 20-50 grams.

Wild mice are teensy, so I would assume near the lower end of that range. The interesting weight range would be show type... I'd imagine 40-70 would be about normal for them.

That's about right. The breeder I got my show mice from said theirs are on the smaller side, and aren't as big as some other breeder's mice. I haven't weighed Autumn, but Olive is 44 grams. Though that sounds a little chubby for the average fancy mouse, for her, as a show mouse, it is a completely healthy, average weight.

I've had normal pet shop fancy mice be anywhere from 20-80 grams. My brindle mouse, Clover and my past yellow mouse, Daisy, were the biggest. Though mice of those colors can carry genes that make them prone to obesity. All my mice that weren't brindle or yellow were 20-50 grams.
