Lavender?
I've been having some trouble keeping the mouse smell down in my room, and I've tried many of the suggestions from other people, aside from possibly using soil as bedding. I was thinking about putting some lavender or mint on the other side of my room to keep the smell down, but I'm not sure if the smell would irritate the mouse. I feel like it might make the mouse sneeze or something like that, but I'm not completely sure why I think that? The lavender would probably 3-6 feet or so away from the cage. Do you think having lavender in the same room would be okay, or would it bother the mouse?

Re: Lavender?
I'm not sure about lavender but mint has been in a few of the forages I've offered and it does not seem to bother them. Actually, they like nibbling it. If you're talking about essential oils however, I would skip it. It's much more concentrated and may be a problem.

We discussed safe essential oils a little bit in this thread:

I burn lavender incense in the living room down the hall from the bedroom where we keep the mice... There's no smoke that gets to the mice but it sure makes the house smell nice! The mice never seemed to notice, but here it's up to you decide if you'd like to try it out or go with better safe than sorry.
