What are your parents' specific worries about getting a mouse? Do they think its too hot for a mouse, or that the mouse would be too smelly, for example.

Yeah, Cucumber's got us started well. What are your parents' exact objections? If we know that, we can build a foolproof counterargument to hopefully turn things around and convince them!

Hey there, Lily! Nice to have you here and thanks for joining PMF!

Ooh. I know the feeling; I had to wait a little while before I could get my very first mouse, Danny, last year. Now, I've had up to eight mice, and still have two left. My mom can surprise me sometimes, haha! Nah, she's not a rodent fan, but 'doesn't mind the mice now that she can't smell them anymore'. Laughing
For Thanksgiving, she got me two huge bags of bedding. She lifted them up in the air and was like, "Clean away!" (When I don't use bedding, I got into the habit of cleaning their cage twice a week).
Anyways, and I'd wanted a ferret for years (and a horse, but, without a job, that's totally not gonna' happen I'm positive). And finally last year my mom let me get a ferret! She wanted me to wait until I was a bit older before I could get one. And turns out, she loved my ferret so much, we eventually got two new ones (we've got just two now) and she has her own ferret! It still almost is hard to believe. I still find it amazing how I have a ferret.
But the point of me sharing this is: Sometimes, you may have to wait. Your parents may want you to wait 'til you're a little older before you get one, and if they ever let you, they may even end up liking the mouse! Also, parents have the final say as to what pets you get, as you know, and sometimes their answers are final and you can't persuade them no matter what!, and sometimes...they may end up changing their minds for whatever reason.
Now, I don't know if you do this or not, but let me just advise you: Don't beg them. *Every so often* it's okay to bring it up to remind them you're still interested and love mice, but please be more mature and respectful than I was Paper Bag and respect their answer, whether they change it or not. Smile

Though I will say that persistence really can make a difference when it comes to getting an animal. For both my mice and the rabbit I'm about to get, it took me two years to convince my mom to let me get them, about. Two years of asking for mice, and two years of asking for a rabbit. But I'm now at the age where my mom says I can do whatever I want so long as my animals stay in my room. Now that I've had so many different pets, my mom just trusts me, even if she doesn't feel totally comfortable going into it. Every animal I've had has managed to change her mind. My mom was terrified of mice before I got my first three girls, and as soon as I did, she totally changed her mind and fell in love with them. And she wasn't totally sure about me getting a parrot eight years ago, but Perry turned her around too. I'm hoping my upcoming bunny will as well!

I got my parents permission after a four-minute power point and a business proposal, but that's not necessary. Just show you are responsible, tell them that mice have a short lifespan (sadly, this may help convince them Shocked) and have consistency in your asking. It took my sister's and I two years to get a pet bird. TWO YEARS! But being consistency in asking (and begging) will eventually pay off.
