Lemon Juice?
Graham hasn't had a serious problem with bar chewing, as I weaved cardboard through the bars to prevent it before it could start, but Garcia sure did when she was here.
I slept much better last night. As much as I miss her, I did kinda appreciate the silence. It's not totally unbearable, and I actually manage to sleep over it after a while but it can be quite irritating.
When she gets back I'd like to nick the habit fot when she moves into Grahams cage. Is lemon juice safe for this, like it is for hamsters?

Re: Lemon Juice?
I wouldn't use lemon juice for mice or hamsters, but I guess there are varying opinions on this. The other one I heard of was hot sauce or a mixture of vinegar and water. Probably not dangerous, but up to owners to decide if they want to use it or not. (My hamster licked a spot on the wall that I was trying to quickly wipe down with vinegar, and she ran away and hid from me for the rest of the day.

It also doesn't really address whatever is making them chew in the first place. They don't chew on bars just because that's their favorite thing to chew... usually. lol If your quarantine cage is just really small, a larger cage, more toys, and a new friend should help with boredom and loneliness, nixing the bar chewing.

The quarantine cage is much smaller than the permanent cage so I'm hoping that'll help it -- but in hamsters it becomes habit after a while so I thought it was worth asking.
Graham does chew on occasion, but nothing habitual or often enough to bother me, so if Garcia is the same way in the new cage I won't bother with any bar flavoring. I hope a new friend, cage and toys will make the little tech feel better.
Speaking of, I'm calling the store again to check up on her Saturday. Hopefully they'll be able to tell me the diagnosis by then -- and the exact date she comes home. I'm excited! I'm hoping I can introduce them shortly after she comes home and settles back in. I wonder how much her colors will change by then.
