It's been a while!
Hey guys! How've you been? Member of the previous forum, helped with the transfer of all the info to the this forum and then I vanished - hey, being mouseless I didn't really feel I had anything to contribute.
Anywho, for those who don't know me - hi! My name is Stephanie, I live in New Zealand and use to breed mice with the specific goals of including type (aiming for something similar to show mice you guys have overseas), health and temperament. I made, what I think, was some amazing strides in improving all that and I definitely regret stopping..
I currently breed Scottish Highland Cattle and Standard rex rabbits, but my pets don't end there.. fish, guinea pigs, rats, dogs, cats, a goat, chickens, quail and even a gorgeous wee lovebird named Zombie. Oh and I can't forget my blue tongue skink called Toast.
So why am I back? Well.. I'm not mouseless anymore! Like NMs title, "Once bitten by the mouse-bug" right?
A friend of mine came across someone on facebook saying they had some male mice needing to be rehomed or they would "let them go".. by the time I was notified of the ad, they had rehomed 2 of the 3 but still had one who they said "had to go today" so..

Thanks guys for the warm welcome back! While I really missed having mice, I definitely can't say I miss the "welcome home stench" that usual comes with them for the first week or two while they adjust to the new environment and new food - especially in bucks! Poor wee lady was being fed rolled oats.. yes, just rolled oats..
Super stinky but such a gosh darn cutie!

Haha thanks! I'm seriously starting to agree with the whole idea of "once you have them, you can't not have them". Felt really weird not having a wee mouse!CinnamonPearl wrote:Welcome home, Applecheeks! So good to see you! Wow, a lot of old faces popping up recently, huh?
Always nice to see some familiar "faces"

I wonder what my experience with that will be! I'm hoping to phase myself out of mouse keeping to start giving my full attention to bunnies. I've already got one, a lovely little mutt named Clover, and I wouldn't mind getting him a friend once I don't owe my time to the girls. But I'll have to see what the mouse bug decides on my fate!

I get that, to be honest I thought I was "done" with mice.. I was in the sense that I didn't go out looking for one but when Gidgey was being threatened with being released into the big wide world, I couldn't say no - good thing I still have all my mouse stuff!CinnamonPearl wrote:I wonder what my experience with that will be! Gosh, rabbits are insanely time consuming! I have.. 11 currently along with 4 bubs in the nest (2 desexed pets, the rest are breeders or retired breeders awaiting desexing/pairing) and 3 that I've been caring for while their owner finds a pet friendly rental - one of which is actually a wee wildie she found that I handraised. My two pets originally had the mouse-room all to themselves until one day Lainey decided to start nesting (to young to desex at the time) and chewed a MASSIVE hole in the wall.. She's a destructive wee demon lol.
