freezing bedding
freezing bedding
How effective is freezing bedding at killing any potential mites inside? Does it 100% kill them all. (I'm a little paranoid about getting mites again.)

Re: freezing bedding
Hey there, Linda! =)
I'd think freezing bedding for a couple of days would be pretty effective. But, might I suggest getting a paper-based bedding instead of freezing your current one? Cedar, pine, and aspen wood shavings I believe are known causes to giving mice respiratory infections, and, yes, I believe that bedding also may have mites/lice in it.
So, you could make your own paper-bedding (but if you use paper, you'll need lots of it for a nice amount of bedding, and it won't be as soft as store-bought bedding), or you could, of course, buy some Carefresh, or bedding similar to it, at your local Walmart/pet store.
I hope this was helpful, and I hope you've solved/gotten rid of the mite problem.

Re: freezing bedding
Freezing bedding will only be very effective if you have a sub-zero freezer. Otherwise its not going to kill everything. Baking is a better method.

I've used Carefresh bedding for many years now and have never had any problems.
