Trying to find a few types of mouse

Post by gdsentropy on Wed 07 Feb 2018, 4:53 am

Greetings,

First of all, there was a much larger amount of paragraphs O had typed, but some idiotic BS made the forum silently truncatemy post. I am not typing that again. Here is the list which the forum truncated, as it os necessary for the post:

Zebra mouse
Black and Tan mouse
Tricolor mouse
Satin Rex mouse

I am trying to find a way to get some mice, listed later, from a breeder that will ship to NC.

Adoption is fine but given my understanding, the lifespan of mice is woefully short, being between 1 and 3 years average. Of course outliers exist, but you cannot really nondestructively know how old an adoption mouse may be.

I mostly adopt my pets and they are grateful for it, so apparently they may have some comprehension of their being snatched from the jaws of oblivion, and that you actively want the particular animal in question. I have two adopted mice and two adopted cats. The following animals were not adoptions: two guinea pigs, an almost 9yr old tetraodon nigroviridis, a ball python morph (I named her Censored Queen...guess why), a Brazilian rainbow boa, a milksnake pretending to be a coral snake, a Syrian hamster, etc.. but I digress...

@gdsentropy, please be careful what you say on here; children could get on here, too.

Any who, in regards to what you're looking for, I haven't heard of zebra mice being sold as pets. Are some, really? Honestly, when I first saw a picture of them, I was wondering if it was edited to look like that. Laughing
And I do not know of any breeders that will ship their mice; to be fair, I don't know any breeders at all. Razz I always just get my mice from pet stores, too.
I looked online on different sites for you, and I found no breeders in North Carolina breeding the types you are asking about. Sorry.

I would suggest glancing over group rules again, but that's just a warning.

Do they have a reptile convention in your state? They have breeders of other, exotic animals there. African soft furs, rex mice, hairless mice, interesting mutations bred from other states. These breeders travel with the convention so even if they aren't from your state, they might show up.

Also, there's almost always at least one monkey which is always cool to see.

A couple things...
1. I investigated your missing post for you. It was hidden from the forum because this rule was broken:
Outside links are allowed only if the content is appropriate for all members, including young teens. Any inappropriate links will be deleted without warning.
I can clean the thread up and bring it back if you'd like.

2.  We need to make sure content posted on the forum is appropriate for all of our members. For this reason we also have this guideline in place:
No cursing, harsh language, posting about illegal activities, posting offensive/disturbing material, or posting about adult activities not suitable for children.
This was ignored in both this thread and the first thread. Please keep this in mind for the future.

You can review all of our rules and guidelines here: https://www.petmousefanciers.com/t79-forum-rules

River had a good idea about conventions. Another option could be trying to post in a Facebook group. I know many breeders are on Facebook now, and they may be more aware of other breeders who have what you're looking for.

Anything can offend anyone. I suggest a list, no one can read minds, and nearly the entire planet is sick to death of SJWs.

What, pray tell, was offensive in this thread?

You know what? Nevermind. Bye.

It says in the rules, actually, which is why I reccomend you read them. Cursing and harsh language, both of which were exhibited here. I reccomend a closer look! As for generality, we don't tolerate cursing, harsh language, explicit or NSFW content, and hatred towards race, sexuality, etcetera. This forum is for all walks of life, and we have had people as young as 10 come around to learn. Let's keep it safe for all owners, yeah?

Please don't take offense, it was not an attack on you, just a reminder to be considerate of our younger users.

Apologies for my delay in response.

This is your (corporately speaking) site, and you may run it however you please of course. However it is a bit hubristic to think applying some standard here would insulate some younger viewer, or that the lack thereof would likewise mean their first exposal to some concept or language. Unless the parent uses something like OpenDNS along with a properly configured multithousand dollar turnkey internet security appliance, this forum being their introduction to whatever is of such vanishingly small probability as to be rendered absurd.

While I don’t intend to dictate to you the manner in which you run your site, I think keeping the reality of the situation in mind wouldn’t be a bad idea.

I had read your rules, as I always do before posting somewhere new, some of the terms were sufficiently subjective as to benefit from a more explicit list of categories, hence my suggestion. Currently the delineation relies on the reader having the same conceptual domain as the author.

Assumption of a common understanding of subjectively defined terms and adjectives is actually a fairly common problem nearly everywhere people of sufficiently differing cultural, moral and ethical backgrounds engage in discourse. This is the manner in which wildly divergent responses to what to the author perceived to be a simple and clear sentence occurs.

Regardless of such, I was not offended at all, but instead felt weary due to having observed situations sharing a common root (as above) many times in conjunction with the current trend of Marxist/Frankfurt school derived language policing, oppression olympics and the divide-and-conquer “broken coalition” strategy of identity politics (“Stronger Together” for instance finds its roots in the USSR, which is the bound sticks seen in the emblems of totalitarian regimes), etc...

I would be quite surprised to find that anyone has read this far, but in the case someone has, you now know the source of my “eh, screw it” reaction.

By the way, the post containing a link to that breeder depended upon the information therein, and as such I felt the link was appropriate.

So yeah. Mice. I really would prefer to not spend inordinate amounts of time chasing breeders, and was hoping someone might already know of one or more murine facilities meeting my needs.

@gdesntropy

Perhaps some of the more general "acts of hatred" categories could do with a more fleshed out description, but I think you are certainly aware that a specific list of intolerable posts is uneccesary as the moderators here are the sole persons dictating what is or isn't posted. General terms are all you need on a forum like this because it is its users that determine when a line was crossed. I am sure you understood the connection between the curse you used and the "expicit language" prohibited in the rules, however subjective you think it was written. If you don't expect for people to moderate your posts, don't post on forums with rules you so dislike.

I think 'harsh language and swearing' makes it pretty clear that bad words aren't tolerated. Of course there are people who will perceive it the wrong way but it would be impossible to cater to everyone so we just have to moderate where needed, instead, such as now. I hope you understand! Good luck with your mice.
