Should I do this? Empty Should I do this?

I've been looking for a way to save bedding because I have a 40-gallon tank and I go through a lot of it. So I thought of using fleece on one half of the tank and regular bedding on the other half. Do you think this is a good idea? Are there downsides to this setup?

Fleece is pretty unsanitary. But you could try putting a base layer of something less expensive like shredded paper or newspaper or even aspen. Then the fluffy stuff on top.

How many mice do you have? How often do you clean?

that's a lot of room for one mouse!  i'm sure you don't need to clean weekly.  we recommend weekly for 10 and 20g tanks that even have multiple mice.

you could clean every other week and be fine.  that will save you some money.  if you are concerned about odor, i imagine you won't be able to tell the difference.  once they mark everything, the odor level sort of stays the same between cleanings.  i'm sure the little dude will appreciate having his smells around longer.

just clean his toys weekly.

And if he has a certain area where he does most of his weeing, you could just spot clean that as needed in between full cleans. With just Eulyn in the 40 breeder, I noticed it doesn’t need a full clean weekly. But she has one corner that she fills with urine that needs it.  When Tilda was still with us I don’t remember it being so tidy in there. Laughing
