Mouse Behavior Empty Mouse Behavior

Post by hallay_donkey Mon 16 Apr 2018, 7:12 pm

I got my mice from a pet store (which I shouldn't have done) But they were feeder mice and I felt bad enough that I got them anyway (but don't worry I had done research before) And I've had them for about two months now and the taming process hasn't really been going anywhere. I left them alone for a week, and then I started letting them sniff my hand, and give them treats, and three of them have gotten used to me, but one is still very skittish and doesn't trust to take food from my hand? What should I do about her because also when I clean out the cage it is quite difficult to remove her if I need to.

Welcome! Do you handle daily? Do your mice get out of cage time?

Read over this thread I'm going to link-- it has some AWESOME suggestions to get started with taming. Once you start getting her out of the cage and in neutral space, time and patience are going to be your biggest allies.
If you have any questions we'd be thrilled to help further. Smile

Mice are just so naturally skittish, sometimes you have to force it a little. Try getting a toilet paper roll and scooping her up in it and placing her on your hand or in an empty bathtub with her. Go from there.
