Post by pattgal on Mon 21 May 2018, 11:54 am

How would you input an "at" into a punnet square? Theres no real other combination for it, I dont think "At" exists?
So would there only be one line for this mix
Ps I know i'm doing this all wrong, lol, this is my cry for help

at would be at/a or at/at or at/* depending on what the genetics are.

I would recommend reading this entire page as well as doing more research on both basic biology and genetics AND additional mouse genetics... but if you scroll aaaaallll the way to the last "Understanding Color" section of this page there's some punnet square info. After you read over it, if you have any specific questions we can try to help answer them. Smile

Wonder Why I never saw that? haha I was half way there.
So from what Im getting my black tan and blue combo will get me a tan lilac. Forgive me im new with color lingo but really looking foreward to learning. But What I really want to produce is a tan style lilac/white. Kindof like a deer mouse but really faint color

It can be hard to say what a pairing will give you if you don't know the specific genetics for your mouse, and even them there's no 100%.

Check out this awesome site for fun reading!

Seriously, read everything you can. We don't typically encourage breeding just for the sake of breeding, so learn as much as you can about mouse husbandry and genetics so you have needed knowledge when things pop up.

Yeah I get that. I’ve read the breeding stickies a bit. I am breeding with a goal in mind and we are learning everything we can about ethics Smile I’ve seen this site and it’s a gold mine. I love it just a lot to learn from the beginning
