New Mouse Granny!
We lost our precious dog to a sudden and serious illness a bit ago. The house seemed so empty! We are a little older
and not sure if it would be wise to adopt another dog at this point as energy and resources are not the same as years
ago. So I searched the internet on small pets for some time. I found mice and your site! Unfortunately the only non pet
store option is a local breeder who insists on adopting out 2 male mice together! This was worrisome to me after all
that I read, even from the same little you are taking some risk as they age if I am understanding right. Besides that
the whole mouse thing is new to me. So I decided just to look in a small independent pet store that was very clean, with
nice employees..I looked and looked, a syrian hamster, small and large rats, reptiles...and the mice? Only a cube with a
group of white feeder mice with pink eyes, cuddling with each other, and running a wheel. There was one little fellow
being swallowed up by the whole busy affair, trying to crawl over the others to escape being buried! Yes, I took the
peanut home! I know he probably will not live long, but he is healthy and active and in one day allows me to hold him after
some practice! This tiny white nugget has healed a broken heart here! My only disappointment is that he does not use
his expensive wheel! But peanut is still a peanut maybe he will at some point! Thanks for your time and all the info here! ( :

Aww, welcome to the site!
I hope your little Peanut does well and stays with you for a while, sometimes the little ones will surprise you!
And if he is young, he'll most likely learn to use the wheel with time.
I don't think I've ever had a mouse that refused to run on a wheel other then Trouble, and she had a health condition that made it difficult.
But definitely feel free to keep us all updated on him! I'm sure we'd all love to see pictures, too!
If you need any help, everyone here is super friendly, so don't be afraid to ask any questions you might have.

Re: New Mouse Granny!
He's bound to settle down eventually haha! And even blurry photos are okay!
And once he's older, you may want to sex him again if you're not 100% sure he's male, as female mice should be kept together, and it's not uncommon that pet stores sex them wrong.

Welcome to the forum! Peanut is a lucky one.
I also bet he'll learn to love his wheel, but if he doesn't come around to it you might try a different kind. Years ago I had a little lady who refused one wheel because she didn't like the enclosed back. Gave her mesh and she was in heaven!
