Strong Odor
Hi all!
I have 3 male mice, and as you can probably guess, they’re very smelly. I already use aspen bedding and change the cages minimum once a week. Does anyone have any advice on how to make the smell go away a little bit? I’m looking into the possibility of an air purifier or something of the sort. Thanks in advance for any help!

I’ve heard a good air purifier does help. Also, filtered water and a good quality base food can make all the difference. When you do full cleans, try leaving an item unwashed so that it still retains their smell. Switching up which item every week should keep any from getting too nasty. Sometimes boys that are kept near other males (or near females) mark a lot more.

Re: Strong Odor
I do a layer of carefresh on top of the aspen because it also helps with odor. You could try that as well if you decide spending money is okay. My room is where my mice are kept but it doesn't smell because I have an air purifier as well. goodluck!

Re: Strong Odor
Ooh, tough one. I miss my male mouse and sometimes really want another one, but I'm not nasally(?) ready to live with the smell again.
Imagine that...three male mice instead of just one! Poor you, but I'm sure ya' love them.
The others I think offered you excellent advice. I guess I don't have much more to add. I'll just say that the few times I used paper bedding like similar to Carefresh, it did seem to help with the odor temporarily, but I wouldn't suggest letting the cage go longer than a week without being cleaned, or it might lose some of the much-wanted odor control effectiveness. ;-)
