Both my girls are very sparky. They only truly popcorn when they're really happy, but they spark more often than not! While it's not a health problem or anything to be worried about, and in fact, I'm pretty happy there's physical signs that my girls are healthy and happy, it does make it hard to catch good photos of them.

One of my boys does it every time I let him go back home. The other complains about going home and gives you a sad look. Laughing

My girls spark a bit, but the newest one bounces all over the place. The first time she did it was over some hanging cupcake liners. It was hilarious! It's so nice to see our pets enjoying themselves. Smile Too funny about the pictures though! Perhaps you can catch them at the water bottle. lol

I love that mice literally jump for joy! I added a new young lady to my colony who sparks over everything and my old ladies just started sparking again. I guess the young lady renewed their zest for life. It's a pleasure to watch.

My oldest girl is only 10 weeks old, and I think she rubbed off on the younger one. We aren't really sure about the youngest girls age - My guess is 6-8 weeks old (she's still obviously smaller than the other), but we can't know for sure. They both do it now, but the oldest does it most often, funnily enough. It is a pleasure to watch - but there's only one good picture of Maier in this world!

Seeing your mice spark around happily is one of the best feelings! And it's so easy to make them happy. A piece of "trash," some shreds of paper, a yummy treat.....such simple things give them so much joy. Hearts

My girls have been very tired lately, so I haven't seen them spark as of late. My usual sparked Little Cow has had her tumor getting very bad, so.. Hopefully they'll perk up soon.

Irrelevant but I was looking at this title and for a minute I could practically smell popcorn. Maybe has to do with the fact that I was just looking at watching a movie soon.
I would love to see a mouse sparking Ear wiggle

Mine do it after a cage clean, when I've rearranged things and put new toys in there. I think they can't contain their excitement.

Yes, that would be prime "sparking" time for my girls, too! I would usually return Anya, the alpha, to the tank first as it was one of her "jobs" to be the first to scope out anything new. She would scurry around, examining everything, sometimes sparking at the return of a favorite object but usually she'd make the circuit of the tank and then start to spark. As the other girls returned, one by one, Anya would often "show" them the desirable object, almost as if to gauge their reactions. After everyone was back in, the bouncing would go on for several minutes, each mouse's enthusiasm triggering the others'. My remaining senior mouse, Cordelia, actually sparked briefly when returned to her clean tank yesterday but I think it was probably in relief that she back safe in her cozy 10g after rattling around in the large bin playpen alone while I cleaned.

I have noticed prime sparking time for mine is after they wake up. They wake up, get a drink and then spark around.

They aren't big sparkers after cage cleans, like all my other mice were. They seem to be morning sparkers for some reason, all 3 of them.

My girls tend to do it when they just awake too. This is usually when they chase each other around the cage and then one, if not both, sparks around for a few minutes and then they're back at it. One does it at everything though - at treats, fresh food, cage cleaning, new toy, a hand in the cage, fresh water even. I find that rearranging the bedding is the most fun for them.

i found a wild mouse mom and babies and put them into a tank. Mom made herself right at home, would come out to get treats and would popcorn off the lid.
Babies picked it up and after i released her back they still do it.
Sparkle and carry on.
I made a mistake and now i have a mom in one cage with her babies, the male in his own and one other(i think) female in hers. All of them totally wreck their stuff each night. I change it around every night to keep them engaged and in the morning its a total wreck. Sleep all day and party all night

I cleaned my girl’s cage yesterday, along with finally getting them a mesh wheel and allowing them to try mealworms for the first time. They were bouncing all over the place, I just sat there and watched them for 20 minutes. Their wheel has a back mesh wall, and Pepper climbed onto the back wall and clung there while another mouse ran on the wheel, and she was just there spinning in circles. I love these gals.

I have had rats for decades. This is my first time with mice.
Of course it has to be a wild one. but she was in my grill and kept moving them so i finally put her into an aquarium.
What started out as 3 is now 6.....trying to get a handle of sexing
But i figured since they are "wild" ( i was with them since they were pink) they wouldnt be so playful and crazy.
the new batch seems pretty calm.
