Re: Weird breathing?
Didn't think of that, that could be it, if so, she'll be happier in a few weeks.MouseLover wrote:Glad she's doing better. Sounds like she isn't too afraid of you. She could be finding it stressful being a lone mouse for the first time in her life, maybe that's it?

Re: Weird breathing?
I have another concern. When I was taking pictures of her next to a quarter she peed on some newspaper and it was yellow, usually it's clear with my other girls, could this be anything? I saw they were feeding them giant slices of oranges in PetCo and that kind of concerned me, could that be related to this? Just wondering. Anyway, here are the size comparison pictures. Again, sorry for bad quality pictures.

Re: Weird breathing?
I think my girls' pee is slightly yellow. Perhaps if she hasn't been drinking much she could be a little dehydrated and her pee could be darker cuz it's concentrated? She's so cute

Re: Weird breathing?
My girls pee is a little yellow as well. I wouldn't worry about it too much. In fact, I think it should always be a little yellow - as long as it very dark or orange, it should be fine.

Re: Weird breathing?
She looks quite small, but she certainly looks to be over four weeks of age. Sorry, I have no idea how old she is after that.

Re: Weird breathing?
I think mousey respiratory systems sometimes need to adjust to the air quality of a new environment. Both of my girls were fine when they were at the pet store, but when I brought them home they were all sniffly and sneezy. They were otherwise healthy, though, and their breathing cleared up after a week or two.

That's an interesting theory, I guess it could be many things.AnonONIagent wrote:I think mousey respiratory systems sometimes need to adjust to the air quality of a new environment. Re: Weird breathing?
Late! Sorry. I'm no expert, but she looks somewhere around 4 weeks - maybe closer to five or six. Either way, she's very young! Definitely not any younger than 4 weeks, though.

Re: Weird breathing?
Ok, so, it's been a while, and the strange breathing is still continuing. I've noticed she will act completely normal like a healthy happy mouse but then she'll just freeze and start breathing like that. Does anyone know how I can host a video? I took a video of it and it's much better than the GIFs.
Re: Weird breathing?
Not sure how to host a video... could you upload it somewhere else (e.g. youtube) and then post the link here?
Does she freeze and breathe strangely when she spots you? Or is this when she doesn't realise you're watching?

Re: Weird breathing?
She does it no matter what, if I'm here or if I'm not. I got her on my hand today and she didn't want to crawl from hand to hand, she just sat there breathing heavily. Then I put her in a ball so she could get some exercise, and she just sat there breathing. So I just put her back in her tank and she's still doing it. Poor thing. I'll try to make above new Youtube account so I can post the video.
Re: Weird breathing?
Sorry, I forget, have you brought her to a vet? Maybe some baytril could help her, or even doxycycline if it's really bad.

Re: Weird breathing?
No, I'm not rich enough to take her to a vet, she doesn't appear to be in any pain though, so I'm not sure...
