Pneumonia: how long does it last?
Update 5/13/19
Roxanne my brindle mouse still has pneumonia. She went to the vet who diagnosed her and she was on a 7-day course of an antibiotic called Enrofloxacin (1 ml twice a day.) When the symptoms didn't improve she went on another course of this antibiotic and then also took Doxycycline (1 ml twice a day.) Her last dosage was yesterday and today she started to sneeze again. The vet said that if this doesn't work she is immune to the medicine and can't be cured. I have no idea what to do now. Has anyone had this problem before? Please, I need some guidance. If she is immune, would euthanization be a better option? Pneumonia will eventually suffocate her making it harder and harder to breathe, I don't want my girl suffering.
I have a mouse here that's been to a vet and has been on a 14-day course of antibiotics for her pneumonia. I took her home afterward and she is still sick! For a couple of weeks, I've tried getting rid of all allergens and treated her with VetRX for small animals. This is supposed to help the symptoms of URIs. With all is said and done she's still sick and has a very raspy breath, sneezing, and fatigue. Is it possible for antibiotics not to work on this? What are the recommendations at this point? She's had this sickness for over a month or so. Will she stay sick forever? Is that even possible?

If she’s still having issues breathing after completing the full round of antibiotics as prescribed by your vet, you definitely want to contact your vet again for a follow up appointment. They will have answers for you and possibly try another round of a different antibiotic/s.

It is possible for antibiotics not to work. A vet can discuss what further treatments would be available. It’s also possible she has damage to her lungs and the noise you’re hearing is from that and not illness. Again the vet would know best.
