puffs of air/sneezing? Empty puffs of air/sneezing?

Post by Moose Thu 06 Jun 2019, 4:59 pm

hello! i've not yet had my new mouse for a week and i'm learning a lot about him. my latest concern is that my boy is making little "puffs" (is the best way i can describe it), periodically. i'm unfamiliar with mouse behavior, but i've read they're prone to URI's and that scares me. i've also heard of "box shock" (i hope that's right), being a thing. he doesn't make these puffs often, only every now and then when i have him out for play time, and not so often when he's in his bin. he's still a little skiddish, but very active. he's eating, drinking, and running in his wheel. i have a vet i can take him to if need be, but i worry about stressing him after only having him a short time. my husband swears he's not hearing these little puffs, but i totally can. i also worry a lot, lol! i want him to be well. also, i used to use the grey crittercare paper bedding until i found out it can be pretty dusty, so i immediately switched to kaytee 99.9% dust free.

if anyone has any advice i'd greatly appreciate it Smile

Since it’s only occasionally and he’s so new, I would agree with “box shock.”  If it doesn’t clear up in the next few days (give or take) or if it seems to get worse, a vet trip may be needed.

Switching the bedding is good. If it was the dust from that it should clear up pretty quickly.
