Small and antisocial mouse? Empty Small and antisocial mouse?

Post by calinibeanie Mon 15 Jul 2019, 9:22 pm

I have 3 mice, the first one I got was Stellaluna. I had her for about a week before I was able to get a second mouse to keep her company. This is when I got Mimsi. I introduced them over about 2 weeks and they got along fine, but Stella was the dominant mouse and gained a lot of weight, while Mimsi didn’t grow at all. Later I got a third mouse, Poppyseed, in hopes that another mouse would keep Stella from being so bossy with Mimsi. Now, Poppyseed and Stella get along really well, but Mimsi still has stayed as small as the day I got her, and seems a lot more reclusive than the other two. They will be running on the wheel and peek their heads out when I come in the room, but Mimsi rarely comes out of her preferred house. I’m worried she’s depressed or antisocial, and this is causing her health problems. Has anyone had a mouse like this? Advice? Thank you!

She may just be a more shy, nervous mouse and could just naturally have a smaller build. How do they interact? Is there fighting? Do they keep her from the food? How long have you had Mimsi? Does she look unkempt? Any other signs of illness?

There’s no fighting but she seems to be too nervous to go to the food bowl much, as soon as another mouse is near she runs away! She sleeps in the same hutch with them but doesn’t run on the wheel and isn’t out much. Her fur isn’t patchy or anything but she looks really skinny.

Maybe try scatter feeding or moving the food dish closer to her preferred hide?
