Hello there,
My Roquefort and Cheddar have come down with URI. They are being treated with an antibiotic 0.01mL 2x daily for 10 days. Any advice on administering medication with a syringe by mouth to them? They are so squirmy its nearly impossible but my husband and I are determined that our little fur babies get their meds down.
How common is URI in mice? Should I be terribly concerned?
I use Carefresh dust free bedding and clean their cage thoroughly once a week. Is there something that may have caused it or is this just something that occasionally pops up?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Kara

Re: URI
There are two tricks shown in this thread on how to administer medication to mice. https://www.petmousefanciers.com/t25-health-packet#34
I hope they help.
Respiratory infections are super common with mice, unfortunately. It’s unlikely it was caused from anything you were doing.

Thank you for your reply. I’m nervous about my Roquefort because I brought them out of town with me because I had to work and my husband has too difficult a time medicating them and now when I got back Roquefort is wobbly walking around like he’s dizzy. Cheddar is being normal. Could this have been from being in a cool car and then bringing them back into the house in the heat? He was normal before the drive. I don’t know what happened! So worried! I gave him a little water by syringe and am keeping an eye on him. I can bring him to an emergency vet if necessary.
