Sadly my poor Lily passed away a few hours ago due a respiratory infection that Baytril just couldn’t treat. I now have Lilac left behind, she seems fine now but it’s only been a few hours. Should I get another mouse? Will Lilac be okay by herself? She was so close with Lily, it breaks my heart seeing her sleeping by herself and looking lonely. I don’t want to get another mouse unless I have to. Question is should I get another mouse or leave her alone ?

Sorry for your loss; it’s always hard to lose a pet.

As for Lilac, it’s really up to you. If you don’t want any more mice, you can treat her like a male mouse and give her tons of attention (meaning hours of out of cage time daily—cage should be more of a home base than an enclosure, kinda like a dog and its crate). Especially in this time of grief, giving her a form of companionship from yourself will be very helpful to her.
Females do do better in groups of their own kind as they crave that social dynamic, but everyone has to stop at some point, and I completely understand that Smile

There’s no real wrong choice, it’s more up to what you can handle.
