Re: Homemade Popsicle Stick Toys
I made a new MES today. I've actually made this exact same one before, but it went down so well with the mice that I had to make a new one once it got old.
It's a swing made of coloured popsicle sticks and a long rounded stick. It works on a barred cage, by sticking the triangular tops through the bars, and then sliding the long stick through on the top of the cage (hope that makes sense, you should be able to see from the pictures). It swings gently and the mice love it. Their previous one lasted many months and they loved it

I love that swing idea, @MouseLover! I bet my boys will too. I just have to get out of the house and find a round stick.

I love that swing idea! Now to find a spare tank with bars lol good excuse for another tank :p
Re: Homemade Popsicle Stick Toys
Thanks guys. I'm sure something like a wooden chopstick would work if you have any of those about?

I made some toys for Colin! Â (My favourite is the seesaw, but he hasn't played with that yet, its not long finished drying - I use PVA glue, the UK equivalent of Elmer's, it means that things don't always go to plan and things slip when trying to dry...)
A Seesaw:

A house (without ladder): - apologies I can't get it to turn this photo and the next around

The same house, with its ladder:

Food bowl platform:

Saucer wheel platform (may need extra lolly sticks to get the wheel to stay still, haven't tested it yet!):

Love the seesaw Stephlisa! And I know what you mean about PVA glue, it can be a real pain. I recently invested in a little glue gun cuz I'm too impatient

Re: Homemade Popsicle Stick Toys
The seesaw is cool. I can't wait to try some new ideas this weekend, I usually make the same MES over and over for all the cages. lol

Re: Homemade Popsicle Stick Toys
I like to use non-toxic wood craft glue. It dries faster than school glue but I think it's easier to use than hot glue. I know a lot of people prefer hot glue though.

Re: Homemade Popsicle Stick Toys
I like hot glue because of how fats it dries, you can knock up an MES in no time. But you can also end up with "hot glue cobwebs" everywhere lol, it can be messy.

Re: Homemade Popsicle Stick Toys
So...I got creative again and also wanted to try out my new hot glue gun...
So first up, we have a cute little seesaw (because the other one doesn't quite fit in Colin's home and allow room for lots of other toys):

Next up a swing:

And finally a pirate ship!! It can be broken up into 3 pieces (2 ends and a bridge). Â Colin particularly likes the hammock!
