First Time Bruxer
I had a lovely cuddle with Violet last night, and she bruxed for the first time
She sat in my hand for ages as I stroked her, her eyes started to look sleepy and she started to brux, yaaay
She's becoming a very cuddly mouse indeed, always happy to make herself cosy in my hand and be stroked.
The funny thing is, she's very friendly and confident when being handled, but she's still so shy when she's in her cage. Always runs away from me. Whereas Honey is the opposite - very friendly and confident when she's in her cage, always comes over to say hello, but becomes nervous when she's out of her cage. Mice, who knows what's going on in those little heads

Awww, how sweet!! The only mouse who has ever bruxed for me was my sweet merle boy from a shelter. He would climb into my sleeve and stick his face out so I could scratch his cheeks.

I've never had a mouse brux for me! I don't hear mine brux, really, but I might just not know what it sounds like.

Re: First Time Bruxer
Apparently the noise comes from them grinding their teeth. It can be very quiet, and actually sometimes you can feel it more than hear it. It can feel like they're vibrating in your hand almost.

Re: First Time Bruxer
My rabbit bruxes, but he's the only one of my pets that does! And he only does it when he's having out-of-cage time. It's a pretty quiet tooth-grinding sound, yeah.

Re: First Time Bruxer
I had a parrot who would brux when she was sleepy, but we just call it beak grinding in the parrot sphere. Maybe Rosie bruxes when she snuggles with me? I'll have to see.

Re: First Time Bruxer
I also had a mouse (Peach, my snuggliest mouse) that whilst she bruxed, her eyes would kind of boggle in and out. I was worried (lol) so I did some research. All I could find was rat owners talking about "bruxing and boggling" and I've seen youtube videos of rats boggling. So it looks like boggling is mainly a rat thing... but Peach proved them wrong and showed me that mice do it too. Although she's my only mouse who's ever done it. Anyone else had a boggler?

Re: First Time Bruxer
no boggles here! penny was my super bruxer, all the time, like a cat purring. most of my other mice will brux occasionally and i always say something goofy like, oh i love you too!
