What are the signs of bonding/acceptance?

Re: What are the signs of bonding/acceptance?
Graham squints at me when I touch her - she's getting better in the sense that she won't run and hide whenever I'm there to feed them or change the water, but if my hand is too close for comfort or accidentally brushes against her, she shows some obvious displeasure.
Awh. That's a long time away from your girls. I hope your grandmother knows mice just as well as you do!

Re: What are the signs of bonding/acceptance?
That's such a long time! My heart goes out to you. I would never be able to handle being away from my mice for that long. I went on vacation for ten days last summer and I could hardly handle it. Can you not take your girls with you? Or are they mainly your grandma's pets?
Anyway, yeah, let's get her sexed before you leave. Since your grandma isn't here, it's best to do it and be safe. Put her in a glass jar and take a picture from the bottom. Where did you get her from, again? If it's Petsmart, then you're pretty safe. Anywhere else, and it's more uncertain.

No, sadly they are only pets at my grandmas house. They are my mice, but my mom won't let me have them at home. We also have a cat.

I'm sorry, bro. That's rough. Maybe someday you'll be able to convince her.

I until recently had four cats, and I have not had any issues keeping mice and cats under the same roof. As long as your tank has a lid it should be fine. You can also buy aquarium lid latches at most pet stores if you're really concerned; I know the Petco in Apple Valley where I got Lucy carries them.
As for your mom, as long as it's not a matter of allergies and just her not liking mice, try showing your mom some of Creek Valley Critter's videos. That's how I convinced my mom to let mice in the house. Although I can't guarantee it'll work; my youngest sister has pretty severe suriphobia and it took $5 to even get her in the same room as my mice.

I'm with Anon. Keeping cats and mice together is no trouble. Most of us here do it! You just need a metal screen top (not the window mesh kind) and tough locking clips, and you're good.

Re: What are the signs of bonding/acceptance?
I once boarded my mice at a vet office when I went on vacation for ten days. I was a volunteer there, and though it got a bit pricey, it worked out pretty great.

Im getting to stay in MN for 4 more days! YAY! I will probably try to introduce the girls again tmrw, I will do some taming with Ivory today. My grandma just doesn't have the time to introduce the girls after I leave, I am looking for ivermectin.

Man, if there's any way we can do anything to help convince your parents to let you bring the mice with you, let us know. I can't believe you're so willing to leave your girls for that long! I have a hard enough time just spending the weekend away from my babies.
Re: What are the signs of bonding/acceptance?
Thanks! I didn't take much convincing for my grandma to get them, but she is more open. I don't think it will work now, especially after me trying for years

Hey, maybe after they've seen how happy these critters make you, and how good you are with them, they'll lighten up.

Have your parents met the mice? Maybe having them see the mice in person and how much you love them will help change their minds.
