Watery eye? Getting worse - HELP Empty Watery eye? Getting worse - HELP

Hello.
I posted a question a few weeks ago regarding the eye of one of my girls, Roisin. That post was asking about microphthalmia in mice, as one of her eyes looked either smaller or squinted.
Well now it looks a lot worse, and I don't think she has microphthalmia anymore. Recently, her eye has been even more squinted (especially in the morning when it's nearly the whole way shut), a little red around her eye, and watery. It also seems to be more sunken in than her other eye, but it's always been less protruded. She doesn't seem to have any other issues. No sneezing, wheezing, etc, and I've never seen my girls fight and I've never found an injury on either of them. It's only one of here eyes that looks like this. She's about a year old, and I use aspen bedding.
I was thinking about switching to paper bedding for a few weeks to see if she is allergic or irritated by it. If she was, wouldn't both eyes look off though?
What could be causing this? What should I do?
Also, any tips on getting mice to stay still or grab them to do a health check would be nice. I'm having a hard time getting her to stay still so I can get a good look at her.

If you think it may be a alergy you can temporarily change to paper towels bedding. Shredded paper towels with whole sheets on the bottom of the cage. Choose any undyed one. Are you freezing your bedding before use? Do they appear to be scratching more than usual? Honestly if it's been going on this long it may be time for a vet trip for and eye drops or ointment.

I've had a mouse lose an eye before - can't say what the cause was, I never did figure it out. But if it helps at all, she didn't act any differently after losing it. Mice rely so little on their eyes that it's really not a huge deal to them as it is for us. Obviously, it's still important to try and stop whatever's causing her discomfort, but just wanted to say not to stress too much if she does end up losing it.

I switched to Carefresh paper bedding, and it looks better. She'll open it up a lot more than she was. However, it's still watery. No, I don't freeze it before use and I haven't noticed any extra scratching. I would like to take her to the vet, but my parents don't seem fond of the idea and if they don't approve, I can't. Now that it looks better, they definitely won't allow it, but that doesn't mean there's nothing wrong. I made some saline eye drops yesterday I'll start using though, and hopefully that helps with the watering and make her scratch at it less.
