Best time to take new mice to vet
Hi everybody! Yesterday afternoon I picked up my two girls from the animal shelter, where they were given to me with vet records confirming they aren't pregnant and were in normal health. The vet records are maybe two or three weeks old. I have seven working days to take them to the vet for free (later will cost around $70, but I can afford that).
My question is how long after bringing them home is a sensible time to take them to the vet for their first check up? It's great if I can make use of that free deal, but I also don't want to give them too much stress too soon.

Re: Best time to take new mice to vet
I don't take mice in for check-ups, personally. There are no necessary vaccinations so to me it isn't worth the stress, I just bring them in if they're feeling unwell. Their lifespans are also naturally very short so taking them once a year as you might with other pets would be only 1-2 times in their life on average. I have had a mouse who went to the vet fairly regularly towards the end of her life, though, and she got used to the journey after a while.
I can understand wanting to make use of the free visit just to be sure, though. Personally, I would probably wait till the end of those seven days just so it's not all at once, but that's just me.
