baytril help urgently needed
i suspect one of my mice has a uri so i have been giving 1 drop of baytril twice a day. there is a problem though, the baytril i have is from a few months back. it has been opened but it was never used before and has been capped this whole time while being stored in a cabinet. the expiration date says 4/25/21 but i heard baytril isn’t good after 30 days of being opened? if this is true will i still be able to medicate her? i assume after 30 days it just loses a bit of its potency which should be fine i believe antibiotics still keep around 70% of potency after expiration? is this baytril still good to use?

I've been told to trash it if it's cloudy or crystallized, but it may depend on the type of Baytril (solely oral, oral and injectable, etc.) so you'd be better off calling your vet and asking how long it's good for after being opened.

Re: baytril help urgently needed
I'm not a vet, of course, and contacting a trustworthy exotics vet is always the best option, but I have definitely used Baytril well passed 30 days of opening without any issues. Most likely, a worst case scenario is that it's not as effective or doesn't really work, I would think.
I've been actually dosing the girls with baytril purchased for use in birds whenever I hear their lungs acting up, which seems to be working. My older ladies seem to get sneezy if I don't dose their water, but when I'm dosing their breathing sounds fine. The medication is a little bit crystalized even due to not storing it in the dark at first, but it still seems to be working and not harming them in any way.
Of course, do your own research and decide what you feel is best for your mice, as no one here is a medical professional, but in my own experience, I think it would be safe to use the medication.

I have heard of using bird antibiotics. I was never sure how to dose it or I'd buy it for my emergency kit too.

@River I dilute it in their water, using 0.5ml per bottle of water, and it's seemed to work. Not sure about how much to give them directly, but I'm sure there's info somewhere online haha
