Dragging legs Empty Dragging legs

Post by Sweetiehoney Fri 05 Mar 2021, 6:26 am

Sweetie is 18 months now, he’s getting old. I bought him from petsmart and I’ve realized now that petsmart mice have health issues, but when I bought him he had a kink in his tail. It was never an issue until today. I can feel that his spine isn’t straight and it curves sideways, and now he can’t walk with his two hind legs. I’m taking him to the vet and if there’s nothing they can do I’ll have to get him put down but do you guys think the reason he lost his ability to walk could be due to the kinked tail? And the fact that it’s affecting his spine? He still eats and drinks just fine and doesn’t seem to be in any pain but his body is so limp. Sad he was just fine yesterday. I’ve read a lot of other posts about people w similar experiences and sometimes they regain control over their legs and sometimes the condition worsens.

It's possible! It may have increased his chances for developing hind-leg degeneration, which isn't unheard of in elderly rats and mice to begin with. I hope the vet can make him comfortable.

Yes, the vet said it was because of his spine. She gave him something for the pain before euthanizing him so he left comfortably and was at peace so I’m glad for that
