What to get after mice?
My mice died, what should I get after mice and what is some general info about the pet? this pet should be smaller than rats, cost less than 50 dollers a month, and is not a hamster (I'm not interested in them).

Well, there are gerbils. I've never owned any but I know they need fairly large enclosures, and you cannot use plastic or wood for a cage or anything in the cage as they will chew through it. They are usually kept in aquariums and since they are so active a large tank is necessary. You can keep them in same-sex pairs. Two females would be good.
As to cost - they, like most rodents are fairly inexpensive except if or when they need veterinary care.

I second gerbils! There’s some great gerbil groups on Facebook, or gerbil forums if you’re not into FB. Mine were less into being handled than mice, but so sweet and SO fun to watch.
I kept mine in a bin with a topper and had no issues with chewing, but they do love to dig (I gave about 8-10 inches of bedding) and will completely shred anything you give them, like boxes. They’re a hoot!

If you're looking for something a little bit different you can look into African Soft Fur rats (ASF's)!

^ I should mention while wood cages are usually a nono for gerbils, wood items are a must! They need to chew. I find them to ne rather similar to hamsters, though.
ASFs are fun. They like to live in large groups. Males can be a bit complicated but not as complicated as fancies, of course.
They're also big chewers. Not as domesticated, but super interesting.
