I miss my mouse terribly
Hello. I haven’t been on for a while. We’ve been going through a lot of changes. Moving into our first house and a baby on the way. It’s been a couple months since my first mouse Jasper passed away and I’ve been missing him everyday. I have him cremated and a little memorial set up for him in our bedroom. My husband has been very supportive, but I wonder how other mouse owners cope with the passing of their little friends? I’d love some advice. I’d like to have another mouse but we’re currently caring for a hamster and with a baby here in a few months I’m not sure if adding a mouse to our family with so much going on is a good idea. Thank you

Re: I miss my mouse terribly
Four years this month my little April has been gone, after we got to spend almost two years muddling through one crisis of mine after another; six years last month since I was unable to help Bobby, Noche, and Paiva, who I found outside the building where I worked and who remained unclaimed by a parent all day. To think of them is always an emotional gut-punch -- and I think of them many times a day.

April sleeping.
While some might say we are excessive in our grief, I say it feels right to me. Not judging anybody else -- it just feels right to me. If I didn't feel acute pain at the absence of somebody or something that was so important to me when they were here, I'd wonder if my feelings had been true in the first place, or had I only been going through the "e-motions" that I thought were expected of me.

It is, undoubtedly, very, very hard to lose our tiny 4 footed friends, whatever form they may take. Mourning takes time, remembrances come and go and bring both sadness and happiness.
