Some pet shops sell pet-safe disinfectant sprays. I mainly use these, or good old fashioned dish-soap and hot water. Just make sure it's nothing heavily fragranced, and that it's rinsed off well afterwards.

I use dish soap as well, and sometimes I just hose it off. Some use a vinegar/water solution, but I don't know how to dilute it.

I have a hand steam cleaner that I use once a month on the tank on top of my regular cleaning schedule. During normal weekly cleaning I use 'free and clear' baby wipes to clean, then rinse with wet paper towels.

I used to use baby wipes for spot cleaning when I had mice that peed on their wheel Smile for some reason my current lot don't do that (but I'm not complaining).

Lucky. I just clean the wheel off with napkins and water every night.

I use hydrogen peroxide (in a spray bottle) to disinfect the tank and remove any latent pee odor, dry with wadded up newspaper. This is followed by plain old water sprayed in and dried with newspaper...great for leaving no streaks on the glass!

For germs, soap and hot water is plenty!

For most cleanings, I prefer to wipe the tanks with paper towels dampened with 50% rubbing alcohol. It is the fastest, easiest method I've tried so far.

I spend the money on the cage cleaner spray. Then after I wipe everything down... I spray with plain water and wipe it out again so there is no smell.

I use antibacterial soap. In the year and a half I've owned mice, I've only ever used one bar, and it's hardly even worn down! Most economical choice in my opinion.
