Hopper mice
now that tabbi is getting the help she needs, I need to start thinking about getting her new cage mates, I was wondering if any one has had experience with adopting hoppers, do they bond with you more than getting older mice? I don't think I could handle any thing younger but I know people who've raised them have good bonds, I was wondering if the same is true for hoppers or are they too old for them to bond with you.

Re: Hopper mice
I'm no expert when it comes to mouse babies, but I believe hoppers would be too young to leave the mother. But as for young mice bonding with older mice, I'm 99% certain that you'll be fine. Others here have introduced young mice to old mice and have had success, so I don't see why you wouldn't. Just remember to keep the new mice separate from the old mouse for three weeks before introducing them.

Re: Hopper mice
I agree that they would be too young to leave their mother. And ones already pulled from their mothers to be sold as food will be weak and more prone to illness.
New mice that are the same size as your current mouse will be easiest to introduce.

Re: Hopper mice
Absolutely do not adopt hoppers or any sort of children who need to be with their mothers. Adopting adult mice is the only humane way to go. But luckily, there are plenty of adult mice in the world who would be more than happy to be Tabitha's friends!

Re: Hopper mice
Just an FYI, you can find mice that are technically adults but that aren't full grown yet. Mice become adults before their bodies are finished growing all the way. I got both Lucy and Selina this way.
