Another reason to love Teddy Empty Another reason to love Teddy

My little foster mouse, Tedward, is so different from Goose. My Goose is the only boy I have ever spent time with, so of course I figured all boys were pretty much like this. Nope! Goose stinks to high heaven. Always has. He is constantly marking me and gets hysterical if he smells the ladies on me. He is also a spaz. But my little Tedward, he's so gentle, and calm. He never poops, pees, or marks me. You can stick your head in his tank and it doesn't stink. And he doesn't pee on his toys! I didn't even know such a boy existed! I already loved him... but i sure do love him a little extra for these reasons!

Lucky! Now how can I get a boy just like him? That could be useful in convincing certain parents Laughing

What a gent! Perhaps because he is a foster mouse, he thinks he is a guest so must be on his best behaviour Laughing

What luck! It's great to have a less stinky boy. Henry used to spray everywhere, but he's since become much better about that now that he's settled in. It's nice to be able to walk into my room and not immediately scrunch up my nose.

He's been really slow to warm up but now that he's settled in... it's time to get him a proper photo shoot. I'm critter sitting 3 hamsters until tuesday and I've been busy getting some nice pictures of them to give my friend and her daughter. I'll post the pics I got of them in the member lounge... but anyway, i'll be getting some pics of Tedward soon. He's such a good boy Tender

What a good little visitor. This is precisely why I only looked for lady mice. Boys can be impressively pungent.

It's funny, because in the past when I had rats, 2 of my 4 rats were boys - neither of them were neutered and they didn't smell at all. I wonder why male mice can smell so bad and male rats don't.

Male rats are also not territorial, right? I'd assume the mouse buck's marking is a territory thing.

Oh yea, Cinna, I hadn't considered that. That is true - because male rats can live with other male rats - whether they are neutered or not.

I think some of it is marking, and some of it is just plain stronger scented urine. Male guinea pigs and hamsters also don't have quite the power of a male mouse...

In the case of hamsters, my female syrian smells so much worse than my boy. Ugh, she smells so gross when she's on heat! My dwarf and robos don't sleep at all though. So interesting!

But yeah, Tedward doesn't even have strong smelling urine. Obviously, it has something to do with body chemistry. My boys have the same bedding, toys, food, filtered water... In fact Teddy should smell more because he's in a smaller tank! Anywho, it should come as no surprise that I'm keeping the little fellow. No one is coming for him anyway! There are so many little white mice up for adoption here. And he's not getting any younger. He is just starting to trust me, there is no way I could betray that trust by sending him away. He was clearly mistreated before i got him... So he will live here now at my sanctuary <3

All the boys I've had have never been smelly! But my mouse Coffee had this urge to pee everytime he was in contact with my skin. It took me only seconds to take him from the cage to the playground in the bathtub but each time I needed soap and water, I don't know why he thought being in my hand can't be done without a pee.
