Figured I went a bit MIA on you all. Wanted to first apologise and then have somewhere to gather my thoughts on how to progress.
Alongside a pretty crappy time in my personal life, my poor mice were suffering too. I have a few theories as to what was happening. But still nothing concrete. I do understand this happens from time to time. But it forced me to scale back a considerable amount. My last two litters ( born around April this year ) started to go down hill rapidly around three weeks old. Long story short I lost the majority of those two litters and one doe / buck ( to seemingly unrelated causes / really bad run of luck ).

I took some time to regroup, retained the remaining pups to see how they grew out. 100% fine and eventually everything went back to normal and has been in tip top healthy shape since. Obviously those from the effected litters will not be apart of any breeding program.

So leaving the cooler months behind me I decided to look at what I have left of breeding age / what lines I want to progress with. I had the opportunity to take back some of my stock from another breeder. Two doe's and one buck. Super excited to get my hands on the buck as I have always kicked myself for never retaining one from his lines for myself. One of the girls is coming on a year old now  Heart Eyes great to go back and see that your pups in other peoples care are still healthy with plenty of life left in them. Gives me more confidence in these reasonably new lines.

I am left with mostly older / retired or pet mice now. With only one project that I am really interested in following through with. The texel line ( with a side of Hereford ) I paired up my new buck ( Frosty ) with a maiden Doe. Their litter was born 14/9/16. Both poor texel's but fantastic temperaments and the doe has the best ear set of my lot. With any luck I will find a improved coat amongst their pups.

Frosty will be going to my hereford girl over the next few days / weeks. I might wait to see how his pups grow out over the next few weeks first. This is his first litter despite being 7 months old. He is out of Teddy and Mocha.

Looking forward to spamming you guys again with hundreds of fluffy pup pics Very Happy

How have you all been?! I need all the updates.

Trying to get my head around what was happening was the one of the worst parts. Coincidently as soon as I stopped feeding a certain food things started to pick up. The only mice I was feeding it to was the nursing doe's and my buck. As they had dropped a bit of condition. Coincident or not that it was those mice that suffered?
Feed and brand that I had used before with great results ( hence why I won't name it ). The more I thought on it, and how I had stored this particular bag led me to think that it had gone off. Completely 100% my fault.
Shook up my confidence in those lines however, even a slim chance of it being genetic is too big of a chance to take.

Thanks Mouselover! I would think of you guys every time I went to take a photo of my guys over the last few months.

There are always going to be big set backs in breeding mice, especially in green lines. You just don't expect it to come from a mistake you made instead of genetics. But, onwards and upwards, we are ever learning Smile

How are you and CallaLily's mice going?

My 3 girls are well, thank you. Getting along great and enjoying their new bigger space. I was nervous about things going bad because of them having more room but they seem happier than ever.

Glad to hear that you're over the hump and have a brand new litter to get excited about. And yes, we're all eagerly awaiting pics of the tiny texels!

Thanks guys! I really appreciate it.
Had a quick look today, miss Roz isn't keen on humans right now xD Looks like there are 7 odd well fed squeakers.

Am I able to update an old thread with new photos ( when they are old enough? ) or should I start a new thread?

That is great to hear CallaLily, did you make a bin or buy something bigger? Always love seeing peoples set ups.
