Re: The Plan
Thank you for the suggestion. Workload is something I'm considering. Admittedly, mice would be the ideal pet in college because their workload is practically nonexistent. The most I have to do for my mice is daily playtime, and that can be done very easily, I feel, at all hours of the day. Then I can pick a free day for tank cleanings, and changing food bowl and water bottle every other day is not a hassle at all. So mice would be really ideal, and the idea of having does again tempts me. (I like bucks, but there's something about girls that calls to my heart.) But then again, if I don't get into Cornell, this will all be a nonissue until I can get off campus housing.
The thing is, right now odds are that Henry will be coming with me to college should I get into Cornell. He's a low maintenance mouse, about as low maintenance as it gets, so if he's alive by next year, he'll be the perfect way to test out how college is and give me more time to decide how to proceed. But if he's not alive by then, I'm just not sure! I have plenty of time to decide though, thank goodness, and I may not even get into Cornell.

CinnamonPearl, you really are a breath of fresh air. The fact that you are taking this decision seriously is really nice to see. I am crossing my fingers that you get into Cornell!

Thank you! I'm crossing my fingers too! My standardized test scores are on the low side, so I hope everything else is up to par.

Re: The Plan
Other than Cornell, where else are you applying, CinnamonPearl? Are you looking out of state, too?

Yes! Right now my list is Cornell U, Tufts U, Bowdoin College, Bates College, Amherst, Williams, Brown U, U of Vermont, SUNY Binghamton, and SUNY Geneseo. The last three are just safety schools- I don't actually intend to go. If I don't get into Cornell, Tufts would be the ideal next choice because at that school, you can be guaranteed a spot in their vet school by the end of your sophomore year. If not, I'd like Bowdoin or Bates because I LOVE Maine and would love to live there for a while.

THATS SO TRUE. Lol.CinnamonPearl wrote:When people say they're too busy to do something, it's both because they're busy but also because deep down, they don't really want to.
I don't know how I missed this thread! Sounds like you've got some hard decisions to make... hm. If I can help, let me know! I like doing research and stuff

Try not to stress about it... I'm sure the fostering will help you decide

Lol if I ever went to Bates College I'd be thinking of Downton Abbey all day...

Wow that is a lot of colleges! I'm presuming colleges equates to universities in the UK and if so we are only allowed to apply to four rather than the normal five that most other people choosing to do different careers can do. I am also working hard as I would love to go to Glasgow University after I complete my last year of GCSEs and then go to Sixth Form and apply for a veterinary course at Glasgow if I get the gradesCinnamonPearl wrote:Yes! Thanks Artist! That's true, fostering is still an option. I'm trying not to think about it too much until I know where I've gotten into and where I haven't.

In the US we usually go to school until we are 17 or so, there is no limit to how many universities/colleges you can apply to if you have the money to pay the fees. Our universities are usually four years but I am not quite sure how veterinary school works here. Good luck to you as well!

Re: The Plan
Vet school is also four years, but if you want to specialize, you have to do internships afterwards.
